The IMPACT2024 conference is being organised by the SHTM and the Research Centre for Digital Transformation of Tourism in collaboration with STR SHARE Centre, and will be held in Hong Kong from 11 to 13 October 2024. This year, IMPACT2024 will also be held in conjunction with the annual conference of the International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators (ISTTE), which will be held at
the same venue from 14 to 16 October 2024.
The hospitality and tourism industry is experiencing an era of both digital transformation and transformation of business operations. Aiming to embrace these changes, IMPACT2024 will address the theme of
"Tourism and Hospitality in the Age of Transformation", serving as a platform on which industry executives, government officials and academics can interact to discuss transformational trends and insights, share research findings and practices, explore creative pathways and envisage strategies to capitalise on this transformation to support evidence-based education, research and industry practices. The conference aims to achieve the following objectives:
- explore how industries are transforming in the age of digitalisation;
- define what constitutes a digital transformation in hospitality and tourism and assess the implications for education, research and industry practices;
- nurture communities of learning and practice in response to the industry's digital transformation;
- suggest transformative ways to manage tourism and hospitality businesses in consideration of these changes in the macro and micro environment; and
- discuss and suggest transformative education in tourism and hospitality.
To achieve these objectives, IMPACT2024 invites the submission of papers on topics related but not limited to the following.

Submission Formats and Presentation Preferences
Submissions should be prepared in APA format and consist of one of the following.
- Extended Abstract: 1,000 (±100) words, including title, abstract, keywords, main body and references, or
- Full Paper: 4,000 (±500) words, including title, abstract, keywords, main body, references, and where applicable, figures, tables and appendices.
Presentations can be in the form of 1) oral presentations or 2) poster presentations.
Chinese abstracts/papers will also be considered for presentation at the conference.
The IMPACT2024 Best Paper Award(s) will be determined based on full paper reviews.
The authors of exceptional papers also will be invited to submit their work to the sponsoring journals,
including the
Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research,
Journal of China Tourism Research and
Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing, for consideration for publication.

Presenters and Participants
IMPACT2024 aims to bring academics, industry practitioners and policymakers together with consultants, entrepreneurs and representatives from hospitality and tourism organisations.
Registration
Accepted authors (or at least one co-author of an accepted paper) should register for the conference to present their research. An early-bird registration fee of HK$2,800 will be available up to 15 August
2024. Thereafter, all participants will be charged a standard registration fee of HK$3,500.
