IMPACT2024 Final Call for Papers
The IMPACT2024 Conference, which is being organised by the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) and the Research Centre for Digital Transformation of Tourism in collaboration with STR SHARE Centre, will be held at Hotel ICON in Hong Kong from 11 to 13 October 2024. The IMPACT2024 Conference will be run in conjunction with the Annual Conference of the International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators (ISTTE), which will be held at the same venue from 14 to 16 October 2024. Additionally, as part of the IMPACT2024 Conference, the SHTM's D.HTM/Ph.D. Graduates Reunion will be held at Hotel ICON on 12 October 2024 from 3:30 to 5:00 pm.

The business operations of the hospitality and tourism industry are currently undergoing digital transformation. The IMPACT2024 Conference aims to embrace these changes by addressing the theme of "Tourism and Hospitality in the Age of Transformation". As such, the conference will serve as a platform on which industry executives, government officials and academics can interact to discuss transformative trends and insights; share research findings and practices; and explore creative pathways and envisage strategies to capitalise on transformative change to support evidence-based education, research and industry practices.

The objectives of the IMPACT2024 Conference are to
  • explore how industries are transforming in the age of digitalisation;
  • define what constitutes a digital transformation in hospitality and tourism and thereby assess the implications of digital transformation for hospitality and tourism education, research and industry practices;
  • nurture communities of learning and practice in response to the industry's digital transformation;
  • suggest transformative ways to manage hospitality and tourism businesses with consideration of changes in macro and micro environments; and
  • discuss and suggest transformative hospitality and tourism education.
The IMPACT2024 Conference will be focused on but not limited to examining the following topics:

Transforming hospitality and tourism for sustainability and resilience Emerging tourist behaviours, consumer trends and marketing/management practices
Digital and metaverse tourism New tourism and leisure practices at the juncture of transformation
Big data and data analytics in hospitality and tourism Best practices in tourism and hospitality education in the era of industry transformation
Applications of AI and robotics in the hospitality industry Addressing labour shortage challenges in the industry
Innovation and knowledge management in hospitality and tourism Innovation and leadership practices in tourism and hospitality
Changing industry practices Transformative technologies to reduce carbon emissions
Capitalising on social media, live streaming and videos in industry practices Developing and/or managing digital tourism decision support systems
Entrepreneurship in hospitality and tourism Tourism as an agency for geopolitical conflict resolution and world peace
Luxury experience management Other related topics

Those wishing to attend the IMPACT2024 Conference are cordially invited to submit an 1) Extended Abstract (1,000 ± 100 words) or 2) Full Paper (4,000 ± 500 words) via EasyChair

Chinese abstracts and papers are also invited for presentation at this conference.
