The Undergraduate Student Research Competition aims to showcase undergraduate students' theoretical knowledge and research skills and extend the frontier of their knowledge in hospitality, tourism, MICE and other related fields.
Undergraduate student research competitors are invited to attend the conference at a rate of HK$2,000 per registrant. Awardees will be invited to attend and present their study at the IMPACT2024 Conference,
which will be held at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 11 to 13 October 2024.
Eligibility
Current undergraduate students or recent graduates (within one year of graduation) at universities with hospitality and tourism programmes worldwide are eligible to enter the competition. While the research can be conducted under faculty supervision, the student must be the first author.
Awards
- 1st prize (one student)*: A travel scholarship worth up to HK$16,000, plus a complimentary conference registration, will be awarded to defray the costs of travel to Hong Kong and related expenses for attending the paper presentation at the IMPACT2024 Conference
- 2nd prize (two students)*: A travel scholarship worth up to HK$8,000, plus a complimentary conference registration, will be awarded to defray the costs of travel to Hong Kong and related expenses for attending the paper presentation at the IMPACT2024 Conference
- Students awarded the first and second prizes who apply and are accepted to the Master of Science degree programme offered by the SHTM at PolyU for the 2025/26 academic year intake will be provided a full scholarship. Scholarship recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher during their course of study.**
* The selection committee reserves the right to select fewer than one 1st prize and two 2nd prize awardees, depending on the quality of submissions.

subject to certain conditions.
Submission Requirements
Submissions should be in English and formatted according to APA guidelines. Each submission should be a full paper (8,000 (±1,000) words) presenting a completed piece of research, including a title, abstract, keywords, figures, tables, references and, where applicable, appendices.
