Biography

Dr. Arkers Wong is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he has been recognized for his extensive experience in nursing education, and research. He has received numerous awards for his teaching and research, including the University Grants Committee (UGC) Teaching Award, International Sigma Emerging Nurse Researcher/Scholar, QS Stars-Wharton Reimagine Education Awards, Faculty Team Award for Outstanding Performance in Teaching, the School of Nursing Teaching Prize (Individual), Faculty Distinguished Thesis Award, and Best Research Paper Award.

Dr. Wong is an active board member of the Hong Kong College of Education and Research in Nursing (HKCERN), Hong Kong Jockey Club Innovative Learning Centre for Medicine (HKJCILCM), Pi Iota Chapter, and Nursing Council of Hong Kong. He has also secured more than HK$56 miliion (~US$ 7 million) of external funding as a principal investigator, from sources such as Li Ka Shing Foundation Fund, Health and Medical Research Fund, General Research Fund, Chinese Medicine development Fund, Health and Medical Research Fellowship, and The Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund, The Government of HKSAR.

Dr. Wong's research interests focus on digital innovation in primary health care, including telehealth, mobile health (mHealth), and wearable monitoring device. He has published numerous articles in Q1, high impact factor journals. Additionally, he serves as an Editor of Digital Health, the Journal of Advanced Nursing, PLOS ONE, Frontiers in Psychiatry, and Bioengineering, and a reviewer for many journals in nursing, healthcare, and multidisciplinary fields.

Dr. Wong's research findings have been featured in over 40 local and international media outlets, including the South China Morning Post, the Standard, Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), Now TV, Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), China Central Television (CCTV), and China Times.

In addition to his academic and research accomplishments, Dr. Wong is also an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Institute for Higher Education Research and Development (IHERD), and the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing (HKAN). These designations reflect his commitment to advancing the nursing profession and promoting excellence in nursing education and practice. Dr. Wong's expertise as an APN and his dedication to nursing education and research have contributed significantly to the development of nursing practice and education in Hong Kong and beyond.

At the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Dr. Wong is involved in various committees and initiatives, including the School Research Committee (SRC), Research Activity Exercise (RAE) working group, International Rankings Strategy (IRS) group, Departmental Staffing Committee (DSC), The Ministry of Education ((MoE) Committee, School Health, Safety, and Environmental Committee (SHSEC), Strategic Plan Initiatives Selection panel, School of Design Board, and Student Academic Advisor. He also serves as a Specialty Coordinator for MSc in Nursing, Director of the International Partnerships, Deputy Chair of the School Learning and Teaching Committee, and the PolyU Junior Research Mentoring Programme and is currently accepting postdoctoral fellow students and Ph.D. students to mentor.
