Tiev Miller 博士以優異的成績畢業於美國路易斯維爾大學運動醫學專業,並榮獲健康與運動科學系的 Joseph R. Trabue 獎。他期後在同一系的研究生研究獎學金下攻讀運動生理學理學碩士學位。他的論文研究了次大有氧運動期間不同聽覺刺激對感知和代謝反應的影響。他還參與了多個美國國家衛生院(National Institutes of Health) 資助的項目,調查職業提升場景(美國國家職業安全與健康研究所,National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health)、用於減輕未來全膝關節置換術患者疼痛和改善功能的康復方案(美國國家護理研究所,National Institute of Nursing Research)以及改善充血性心臟衰竭患者心血管結果的干預措施(美國國家心肺和血液研究所,National Heart Lung and Blood Institute)。
在接受研究生培訓之前,他曾在 GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre(英屬哥倫比亞大學醫學院物理治療系)擔任研究助理,為中風及脊髓損傷患者開發社區為基礎的資源和運動計畫,分別是Fitness and Mobility Exercise (FAME) 和Spinal Cord Injury Research Evidence (SCIRE)。
