Introduction:CIMS

The Chemical Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer (CI-TOF-MS) combines chemical ionization with high-resolution time of flight mass spectrometry and for sensitive, real-time identification and quantification of gas-phase compounds in sampled air. It can be employed in climate change and air quality research.

Major functions:

  • Selective detection based on the employed reagent ion chemistry. Adaptable for a multitude of reagent ions including Acetate, Iodide, Nitrate and H3O(H2O)n.
  • Soft ionization combined with high mass resolving power enables molecular and elemental speciation.
  • Quantitative response with broad dynamic range. Part per trillion (pptv) gas-phase sensitivity.
  • High ion duty cycle enables simultaneous measurement of all mass-to-charge ratios.
  • Data acquisition rates exceeding 200 complete mass spectra per second.
  • Applicable for both laboratory and field measurements.
