“Renewable energy is crucial for sustainable development; and solar energy, in particular, is abundant and environmentally friendly. But so far, the sun just provides 2% of the world’s electricity,” says PolyU Prof. Li Gang, Professor of the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, and Associate Director of the Research Institute for Smart Energy. He nonetheless believes solar cells will play a pivotal role in providing clean energy in the future.
