【#WeArePolyU】How can “Dwarfs” help children with autism?
“I hope this educational kit could provide a platform for autistic children so that they can learn to express themselves and enhance their ability in handling emotions.” Developed by PolyU product design student Jack Wong, this project features seven small objects and readers. As in the movie “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” where the dwarfs represent different characteristics, the kit makes use of various shapes, colours and sounds of the objects to symbolise seven types of emotions. By providing visual, auditory and tactile stimulation, this design aims to enable autistic children to better express their feelings so as to help them improve their communication skills.
