Title of project:
Traditional Chinese Medicines and Glaucoma
Synopsis:
Worldwide leading cause of irreversible blindness, glaucoma, was discovered since the 17th century. Unfortunately, until now, there are still no life-long effective treatment. While the associated side effects and complications of exciting therapy are still big concerns. Therefore, in my study, I would like to investigate new glaucoma medicine from non-toxic natural products. Baicalein, commonly used in Chinese medication, is one of the potential candidate. The hypotensive, neuro-protective effect and any side effects by different administrations as well as the behind mechanisms will be examined.
