Orthokeratology (Ortho-k) is a technique where the cornea is progressively reshaped using specially-made contact lenses to reduce myopia. Ortho-k does not lead to permanent corneal change but it can reduce myopia temporarily. Patients need to continue to wear the lenses to maintain the effect. There is some recent evidence which suggests that ortho-k may retard the progression of myopia.
