A seminar on the topic “Current International Situation and China’s Diplomacy” was held on campus in November 2023. Mr Fang Jianming, Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR (the Office), was the honourable guest speaker of the seminar. Around 200 staff and students attended the event.

Mr Fang shared the current international situation in the new era, China's diplomatic concepts and innovative practices, with a shared vision of the Nation’s efforts in promoting and constructing a community for the betterment of mankind. He welcomed PolyU and other tertiary institutions in Hong Kong to expand their cooperation to foster the Belt and Road Initiative.

Professor Jin-Guang Teng, PolyU’s President, Professor Ben Young, PolyU’s Vice President (Student and Global Affairs), and Professor Albert Chan, Dean of Students, warmly welcomed the delegation from the Office. Professor Teng also expressed his gratitude for their long-standing support for PolyU.
