Summary

Abstract

This informative forum will discuss how engineering students can achieve engineering development through joining The Institution of Engineering and Technology Hong Kong (IET Hong Kong). The ultimate target is for students to obtain professional registration and be elected the title of Chartered Engineer. We will also focus on professional ethics for engineers.

 

Speaker

Ir. Ben LI has more than 30 years of experience in electronics, communication, and manufacturing engineering. In 1994, he founded his own business. Since then, he has encountered ups and downs in many business cycles. He is currently the director of a number of engineering and technology companies in Hong Kong and China.

Ir. LI got his BSc (Hons) degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in Electronics. He was one of the early direct students of Prof. Charles K Kao. He holds an MBA from Henley Management College and Brunel University. He has also possessed several professional Diplomas in Management Studies and Public Administration from The  Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He is a Chartered Engineer in which he now leads the Membership Development Task Force of IET Hong Kong. Ir. LI is also the former Chairman of the Electronics and Communications Section Committee of IET Hong Kong.

Ir. LI has a strong passion for community work. He had been an Adjunct Lecturer at PolyU for 18 years. Recently he is an External Assessor for the Research Grant Approving Committee of the City University of Hong Kong. He has also served at the Executive Board of Association of Evangelical Church of Hong Kong since 2005.
