Mr Tin Chui (Simon) LI

Biography
Mr LI Tin Chui, Simon joined the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) of Hong Kong Government as an Assistant Operations Officer in 1983. Throughout his service in CAD, Mr LI served in various posts of different job nature, mostly regulatory duties relating to airport standard/safety and security, provision of air navigational services as well as aircraft incident and accident investigation.
Upon promotion to Assistant Director General of Civil Aviation in August 2010, he was responsible for procurement, installation and maintenance of all air navigation systems supporting flight movements to/from the Hong Kong International Airport as well as flight operations within the Hong Kong Flight Information Region.
In October 2014, Mr LI was promoted to the rank of Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation. He was appointed as Director General of Civil Aviation in May 2016, and retired from CAD in April 2020.
During his career in CAD, Mr LI also served as a board member of Hong Kong Airport Authority and Aviation Security Company Ltd between 2014 and 2020.
Upon his retirement in CAD, Mr LI served as a Senior Advisor ( Aviation ) for the then Housing and Transport Bureau of HK SAR Government from May 2020 to May 2021.
In June 2021, Mr LI joined the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy as President.
Mr LI holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering, a Specialised master’s degree in Satellite Based Communication, Navigation and Surveillance at Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC), France in 2009. Mr LI is a fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers.
