Academic Staff

Francis obtained his BEng in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom and his MSc in Thermodynamics & Fluid Mechanics from City, University of London, United Kingdom.

Francis was trained by Cathay Pacific Airways (CX) as a Technical Instructor and was sent to Boeing, Seattle for B747-400 and Aeroformation, Airbus, Toulouse for A330/340 Type approval training courses. As a Technical Instructor, he taught the CAD Basic A & C licence courses. He also taught maintenance approval courses for Lockheed L1011, Boeing B747-200/200F/300,400/400F and Airbus A330/A340. Later as an Operation Training Specialist in the Flight Operation Department, he taught Flight Crew Induction/Conversion courses for Boeing B747-200/400 and Airbus A330/A340.

After he left CX, he was employed by Oxford Aviation Academy, later was called CAE Commercial Aviation, as an A320/330 Contingent Ground School Instructor. Prior to joining the PolyU FTO, he had conducted many A320/A330 TRTO Flight Crew Induction courses for different Asia regional airlines including Dragon Air, HK Airlines, HK Express, Jetstar Asia, Tiger Air, Fiji Air, Royal Thai Air Force, Hainan Airway, China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines and Spring Airlines.
