Prof. Christina WY Wong's research in sustainability practices encompasses a comprehensive range of organisational sustainable actions, including cleaner production, sustainable packaging, green services, sustainable shipping, reverse logistics, circular economy practices, emissions reduction and stakeholder engagement. Her work has contributed to understanding how these practices influence operational efficiency, productivity, and environmental and social performance.
Recognised as an expert in addressing organisational environmental and social issues, she was entrusted with the development of the Blended Fabric Risk Assessment Index for the fashion industry. This tool enables fashion designers to assess the impacts of their material choices. Her team also developed the Specification of Competency Standards for the import and export industry and the logistics industry, demonstrating her practical impact on these sectors.
Prof. Wong has secured research funding from various bodies in Hong Kong, Mainland China, the UK, Austria, Canada and Thailand. These funds support projects examining the performance values of various sustainability practices and their related factors.
Prof. Wong's distinguished reputation in sustainability practices research is reflected in several prestigious accolades. She was named a Research Grants Council Senior Research Fellow for 2024/25. She also received the Humanities and Social Sciences Prestigious Fellowship for 2017/18, one of only five scholars recognised for their significant contributions to the field. She is ranked among the top 1% of scientists in Asia and the top 2% globally in Stanford’s Top 2% Scientists Report.
As an active member of the academic community, Prof. Wong serves in various editorial and administrative roles, contributing to the advancement of the field and the effective functioning of her university. She is the Director of the Research and Innovation Office, leading initiatives to foster research and innovation.
