Microsoft has recently announced "Changes to storage offerings across Microsoft 365 Education", a policy that will affect higher education institutions worldwide. Effective from 1 February 2024, the Microsoft storage policy for OneDrive will reduce the maximum storage limit to 100GB for free users, including PolyU alumni.
To manage your OneDrive storage usage and take appropriate actions, please visit here to determine how much space you need to free up.
- If the storage of your alumni account currently exceeds 100GB, we kindly request that you reduce your storage by deleting or archiving files to an alternate location, such as other cloud storage options available in the market. Please note that your OneDrive account will become read-only if the storage capacity remains over 100GB.
- If the storage of your alumni account is 100GB or below, we recommend periodically reviewing and deleting any unused files to free up storage for future use.
Meanwhile, please be aware that starting from 31 January 2025, the OneDrive service that PolyU provided will cease entirely. To safeguard your data and prevent any permanent loss, please ensure that you download your files from OneDrive and properly store them in a separate location during this transition period.
Regarding your Connect email, the University will provide you with an online archive service starting from 1 February 2024. Emails older than 6 months will be automatically moved to the archive folder, ensuring that your mailbox remains primarily dedicated to recent messages. We hope this enhancement can facilitate simpler email searching and sorting for you.
