Prof. Brian Kei Chi-wing is currently Professor of Practice (FinTech) and Programme Director of the Doctor of Business Administration programme at PolyU. Besides academic endeavours, he also serves as Vice Chairman of The Institute of Securities Dealers, and an Industry Mentor of the Industry Project Masters Network Scheme under the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. Since 2021, Prof. Kei has received funding support for his research projects from multiple sources, including the Teaching Development Grants (TDG), OnlyOwner Technology Limited, and Online Teaching Development and Education Research Grants, amounting to nearly HK$6 million. His research interests lie in the use of blockchain and cryptography for various purposes, from boosting student engagement to enhancing business efficacy. For his outstanding contributions, Prof. Kei was named a Visionary Educator in 2022 by UiPath, a market leader in robotic process automation.

Dr Tenny Lam Fung co-founded Grand Rise Technology Limited in 2019 with Prof. Pei Li of PolyU’s Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology. The academic-led start-up specialises in novel bio-based technologies, such as anti-microbial coatings for high-touch surfaces and an edible coating that extends the shelf life of food. The team strives to translate research excellence into real-world applications for the benefits of society. Their dedication to research and development has earned both investor support and industry recognition. Grand Rise Technology has received a total investment of HK$4.5 million from angel investors HKx and Beyond Venture. The fund was matched by the PolyU Tech Launchpad Fund (TLF) Scheme. Together with the support of Dr Lam’s family chemical manufacturing business in China, Grand Rise Technology has set up R&D offices in Hong Kong Science and Technology Park and the PolyU InnoHub, alongside manufacturing facilities in Qingyuan, China.Currently an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at PolyU’s Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship Office (KTEO), Dr Lam mentors PolyU start-ups. He also served on the Executive Committee – Technology Transfer Support of the PolyU KTEO CEO Club. A number of accolades have been bestowed upon him, including a Gold Medal at the 2021 Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, and the Excellence in Research Application Award from the Federation of Hong Kong Industries.

Mr Ben Wong is currently Google’s Chief Marketing Officer for Greater China. He has a proven track record of instigating transformative campaigns and driving innovation for iconic global brands in both the Asian market and the US market. His strategic acumen shines through his successful brand management across diverse portfolios, including Google, Procter & Gamble (Olay, Pampers), Johnson & Johnson (Neutrogena, Clean and Clear, Johnson’s Baby, Stayfree/Carefree), Beiersdorf (Nivea, Eucerin), Mars/Wrigley (Extra, Doublemint, 5, Skittles), Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, and Starbucks China. Mr Wong is also passionate about community service. He currently serves an Advisor and/or Committee Member of the Children’s Cancer Foundation (health), Ediversity (education and parenting), the Rock Foundation/Creation Hub and Ed-ability (disability), and the Women Alliance Group. Mr Wong’s work has received widespread industry recognition and multiple awards, including the International Business Award at the Stevie Awards. He has also received a MarCom award from the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals, an Event Marketing award from Campaign Asia, and an ROI award.

Captain Lothair Lam Ming-fung—Director and Deputy General Manager of Hong Kong Ming Wah Shipping Company Limited since 2021— has a distinguished career in the maritime industry. A graduate of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Captain Lam began his career as a seafarer with Wah Kwong Shipping and earned his Class 1 (Deck) Certificate of Competency from the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency in 2006. By 2007, he was commanding a Capesize bulk carrier. Captain Lam is an Associate Fellow-Member of the Nautical Institute and holds several key positions, including Chairman of the Institute of Seatransport, Committee Member of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board, Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, and Vice Chairman of the Asian Shipowners Association’s Seafarers Committee. His professional contributions extend to serving as Secretary General of the Hong Kong Shipping Circles Association and as an External Examiner for the Higher Diploma in Maritime Studies at the Maritime Services Training Institute/Vocational Training Council. Captain Lam is a frequent guest speaker at career talks, expos, and seminars, where he shares his vast industry knowledge and inspires future maritime professionals.

Dr Gabriel Leung Shing-koon, Managing Director, Hong Kong and Macau, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, is one of Hong Kong’s most seasoned senior executives in information and communications technology (ICT). He has served at the management level in top multinational ICT companies for 30 years. Since graduating from PolyU’s Doctor of Business Administration programme, Dr Leung has actively supported and given back to his alma mater. Yet, his close affinity with PolyU showed long before that. Under his stewardship, Sun Microsystems donated HK$3 million to set up a laboratory at the PolyU Student Computer Centre in the 1990s. With his extensive experience in ICT, he currently serves as a Member of PolyU’s Graduate School Industry Network Committee. A regular speaker at University events and lectures, Dr Leung is passionate about nurturing younger students and never hesitates to share his profound experiences in various contexts, covering organisation management, e-commerce, marketing strategies, and latest technologies such as artificial intelligence and smart city. He also works closely with PolyU departments to formulate the best-fit ICT solutions, including a high-performance system for the PolyU Data Centre and Management Office. Keen on driving the advancement of local ICT industry, Dr Leung is devoted to coaching and nurturing local ICT talent, with a particular interest in making social impact with corporate environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies.

Mr Shum Chiu-fai is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of AsiaBots Limited, which specialises in AI, omni-channels AI customer services, and voice technology. The company’s core business is in Asia. Since securing funding support from the PolyU Tech Launchpad Fund and the PolyU Micro Fund Scheme—grants from his alma mater—Mr Shum and his team have won numerous fintech, deep tech, start-up, and retail awards across Asia. Notably, his AI Voicebot Training System won the Silver Medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. Mr Shum is also a popular guest speaker at the University’s entrepreneurship and alumni events, where he frequently shares his entrepreneurial experience with teachers, students, and graduates.

Dr Cai Jin, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sing Tao News Corporation Limited, is also a director of various subsidiaries of the company. He previously held key roles in several listed companies in Hong Kong and has over 12 years of experience in media and finance. Dr Cai launched his career as a financial reporter, later promoted to editor-in-chief at Phoenix TV. A prolific columnist as well, he writes commentaries on economic and social issues. Since graduating from PolyU’s Doctor of Business Administration programme, Dr Cai has been working closely with the School of Accounting and Finance (AF), sharing his ideas and exploring the possibility of knowledge transfer for the benefits of both PolyU and other enterprises. As an Adjunct Professor at AF, he has generously shared his knowledge and vision with students, inspiring them to think innovatively for potential environmental, social and governance (ESG) applications. Spearheading the ESG reform of Sing Tao News Corporation, Dr Cai initiated the signing of a memorandum of understanding for ESG collaboration with PolyU’s Center for Economic Sustainability and Entrepreneurial Finance (CESEF) in May 2023, in a bid to promote sustainable development in Hong Kong.

Dr Shang Guangzhi is Jim Moran Associate Professor of Operations Management in the Department of Business Analytics, Information Systems & Supply Chain at Florida State University. His research has been published in Production and Operations Management (POM), the Journal of Operations Management (JOM), MIS Quarterly, and Decision Sciences (DS), among others. His work has received best paper awards from POM, JOM, and the POM Society’s College of Operational Excellence. Dr Shang serves as Department Editor for the Empirical Research Methods Department at JOM and for the Retail Operations Department at DS. His review service was recognised by his receiving DS’s 2019 Outstanding Reviewer award and JOM’s 2018 Best Reviewer award. He has also been nominated for POM’s Best Reviewer award and JOM’s Best Associate Editor award. Dr Shang also co-authors the column “View from Academia” in Reverse Logistics Magazine, with Mike Galbreth and Mark Ferguson. The column aims to convey the very latest academic knowledge to industry professionals dealing with consumer returns. He is currently co-editing a special issue of JOM titled “Operational Perspectives on Blockchain Applications”.

Dr Dorothy Chau is currently APAC DPO and Head of Security Assurance at Crypto.com. She earned her PhD from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and has worked in the fintech field for over 10 years. She is widely respected as an industry and academic liaison. Dr Chau’s advisory roles include serving as an Advisor for the Cyberport Mentorship Service, chairing the Data Privacy Special Interest Group at the Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia, and acting as Vice-Chairman for the Committee of FinTech at the Institute of Certified Management Accountants, Australia. Her focus lies in promoting women in tech and driving digital transformations in different industries. Dr Chau is also a Certification Board Member at the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), where she holds the title of Fellow of Information Privacy. She also delivers various IAPP courses worldwide as part of her official training faculty role. Dr Chau actively contributes to influential policy recommendations through her involvement in different working groups of the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council. These  recommendations cover areas such as central bank digital currency, positioning Hong Kong as a data hub, enhancing cybersecurity, and fostering talent development in the fintech sector. She also actively contributes to several professional associations in Hong Kong and China.

 
Jennifer Tan

Ms Jennifer Tan Yuen-chun currently serves as Executive Vice President (Strategy Development & Government Affairs, Greater Bay Area) of Ant Group. She holds numerous key professional roles in Hong Kong, including Global Council Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Board and Policy Research Committee Member of the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council, and Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong Computer Society Financial Technology Specialist Group. Ms Tan’s accomplishments include being shortlisted as a Top 100 Fintech Leader by Fintech Magazine, and receiving the Outstanding Women Professionals and Entrepreneurs Award from The Hong Kong Women Professionals and Entrepreneurs Association in 2021. Beyond her professional roles, Ms Tan also contributes to her alma mater by serving on the Departmental Advisory Committee of the School of Accounting and Finance, and by making valuable contributions to the School as an Honorary Professional Mentor.

Mr Kenneth Yu has supported his alma mater in many capacities. Once a mentor under the Mentorship Programme hosted by PolyU’s Student Affairs Office, he has actively taken part in activities organised by the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Hong Kong Community College, and the Achievement Foundation. He also offered complimentary training to PolyU students and sponsored them for off-campus training. As a member of Junior Chamber International (JCI), Mr Yu has held a number of leadership roles contributing to the organisation’s growth and development for 13 years. Currently the National President of JCI Hong Kong, Mr Yu oversees the operations and strategic direction of the organisation. He works closely with other JCI leaders and members to identify areas for improvement and implements initiatives to enhance the organisation’s impact. As a JCI trainer, Mr Yu has conducted over 110 training sessions for more than 1,500 JCI members and 20,000 public participants. In addition to various awards from JCI, Mr Yu is also a proud recipient of the United Nation Global Compact Award; Gold Award for Volunteer Service from Social Welfare Department, HKSAR Government; and Gold Award for Voluntary services from The Salvation Army. He was also named Outstanding Person 2022 by Chinese Today Publishing House, as well as an awardee of the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs’ Commendation Scheme.
