With more than 200 published research papers and over $20 million in competitive research and development grants secured, Prof. Chetwyn Chan is a visionary leader in the fields of psychology and rehabilitation sciences. In 2018, he and his research team won the First Prize in Science and Technology from the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine for their work on post-stroke cognitive assessment and intervention innovation. In 2019, they received the Second Class State Scientific and Technology Progress Award from the State Council of the People’s Republic of China for integrating Chinese medicine into innovative post-stroke rehabilitation. Focusing on human learning mechanisms, in particular perceptual and cross-modal learning, Prof. Chan also applies these mechanisms to design interventions that enhance the functional capabilities of people with disabilities and older individuals.
