On 16 April 2025, over 70 alumni and guests gathered at the Alumni Atrium for the “Smarter Smartphone Photography” event presented by Mr Alex Ma, a Design graduate of PolyU and an acclaimed Art Director, Photographer, and Designer. Currently residing in Sydney, Australia, Mr Ma has maintained close ties with PolyU over the years, including serving as Honorary Advisor of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Australia) Association. During his recent visit to Hong Kong, he especially collaborated with the Alumni Affairs Office to develop this sharing session that aimed at uniting PolyU graduates with an interest in photography. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Miranda Lou, Executive Vice President of PolyU, who presented Mr Ma with a souvenir in appreciation of his great support. During the sharing session, Mr Ma offered valuable insights into the art of smartphone photography through his dynamic presentation, demonstrating a variety of techniques and accessory setups that transform everyday smartphone cameras into powerful tools for artistic expression. Attendees were captivated, particularly by the opportunity to appreciate stunning works and practise the new skills they learnt. Feel free to relive the highlights of this event through our online gallery, Facebook, and Instagram. Additionally, please stay tuned for the upcoming “Alumni Photography Club”! This new interest club will offer a vibrant platform for alumni to explore the world through their lenses while also establishing close connections with fellow photography enthusiasts.
