Celebrate Your Blossoming Youth at PolyU: Alumni Reunion Dinner

27 Feb 2025

On 27 February 2025, the “Celebrate Your Blossoming Youth at PolyU: Alumni Reunion Dinner” was successfully held at the PolyU Student Halls of Residence (Hung Hom). The event brought together over two hundred alumni and the senior management of PolyU in a warm gathering, celebrating the festive start of the new year while deepening connections, especially between the young alumni community and their alma mater.

The dinner took place in the nostalgic student hall. Many alumni joined an exclusive guided tour before the event, exploring new facilities while reminiscing about old times together.

President Prof. Jin-Guang Teng welcomed all guests as the dinner commenced, expressing his joy at reuniting with the alumni family in the new year. He took the opportunity to share PolyU’s latest developments and achievements in education, research, knowledge transfer, and more. A joyous and colourful “Lo Hei” followed, which was hosted by: President Prof. Jin-Guang Teng; Prof. Miranda Lou, Executive Vice President; Ir Yau Kwok-fai, PolyU Council Member and President of the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations; Ir Prof. Tsui Tack-kong, recipient of the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award; Mr Ben Lau, Associate Vice President (Campus Development and Facilities); Prof. Li Xiangdong, Dean of the Faculty of Construction and Environment; Prof. Hang Xing, Associate Dean (Global Engagement) of the Faculty of Humanities; Prof. Fan Di, Assistant Dean of the School of Fashion and Textiles; and Ms Maewoon Diana Liu, Director of Alumni Affairs. This symbolic gesture embodied the unity of PolyU’s alumni community in fostering engagement and celebrating their ongoing success with their alma mater.

After that, Prof. Miranda Lou provided an overview of the University’s new alumni engagement efforts. She particularly introduced the newly established alumni interest clubs, where core members were eager to engage graduates from various generations and disciplines. This new year celebration also featured other exciting programmes: each graduate received a commemorative pin and took group photos with their peers against a vibrant floral backdrop; they enjoyed exciting quiz games and lucky draws, winning prizes generously sponsored by dedicated alumni and academic units; and the fantastic performances by the Alumni Band and student singer captivated the audience, with Ir Prof. Johnny Fan Siu-kay, an Outstanding PolyU Alumni Awardee, delivering two more classic songs that received warm applause. In a grand finale, three winners of the best-dressed award, chosen by all attendees, were announced amid a lively atmosphere. They received prizes from last year’s award recipients, making the moment even more meaningful.

This night celebrating youth was filled with laughter, cheer, and the click of cameras capturing many precious moments of bonds, leaving everyone with special gifts and fond memories. The Alumni Affairs Office sincerely thanks all PolyU members for their enthusiastic participation, and looks forward to creating more unforgettable experiences with alumni on campus in the future.
