Biography
Dr Fu is a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Social Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She received her PhD in Social Work and Master of Social Work from The University of Hong Kong.
Dr Fu’s primary areas of research interest are migration and resilience. Her work centers on understanding how family and individual migration across different developmental stages affect the future life trajectories of youth. Her current research projects investigate the influences of migration on health outcomes and the transition to adulthood among migrant families in Southeast Asia and transborder youth in the Greater Bay Area. She is also interested in how protective factors at multiple levels of ecosystems work together in individual and family resilience under different stressful circumstances.
Her publications appeared in renowned peer-reviewed journals such as Social Science & Medicine, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Children and Youth Services Review, Applied Research in Quality of Life, Journal of Adolescent Research. She also serves as a reviewer for several international academic journals in social work, social policy and psychology.
She has participated in diverse consultancy projects with International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Innovations for Poverty Action (USA), as well as intervention programmes funded by The Ministry of Civil Affairs (China), Caring for Children Foundation (HK), and Wofoo Social Enterprises (HK).
