Biography

Dr Wong Yau-kai is a Lecturer in the Department of Applied Social Sciences, Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has more than 9 years of experience in teaching undergraduate and post-graduate subjects on special educational needs and inclusive education and is now the specialism leader of the Master Programme of Applied Psychology (Diverse Learning Needs). Dr Wong has more than 10 years of experience in launching services for children and youth with specific learning difficulties through the Manulife Centre for Children with Specific Learning Disabilities (SpLD) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His specialty and research interests cover children and youth with special educational needs (SEN), assessment and intervention for dyslexia and mathematical learning difficulties, and test development.

2013 - 2017 Co-Investigator, Study on Cyber Youth Work for Drug Prevention – What works and why? (Funded by Beat Drug Fund, Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau, HKSAR Government)

2015 - 2016 Co-Investigator, Establishment and Development of Self-help Organizations of Parents of children with disabilities in Hong Kong. (Funded by the Parents’ Association of Pre-school Handicapped Children and Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation)
