Biography

Prof. Diya Dou serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Social Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She teaches courses titled "Tomorrow's Leaders," "Service Leadership," and "Service Leadership through Serving Children and Families with Special Needs."

Prof. Dou's research is centered on four areas: 1) positive youth development among adolescents, 2) the interplay between parenting, teaching, and adolescent well-being, 3) school effectiveness and improvement, and 4) teacher professional development and well-being. Her work is published in leading international refereed journals such as the Journal of Adolescent Health, Educational Management Administration and Leadership, British Journal of Educational Psychology, Journal of Affective Disorders, Journal of Adolescence, Journal of Psychoactive Drugs, and Applied Research in Quality of Life. She is an active reviewer for over 20 SSCI journals in the fields of psychology and education. As either Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator, she has received over HK$6 million in funding for research projects focused on adolescents and leadership. As a member of Prof. Daniel Shek’s research team, she was honored with the Faculty Team Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching in 2024, the Young Scholar Award of the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS) in 2023, Faculty Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Knowledge Transfer (KT) under the category of Society & Team, and the Gold Award in the Nurturing Wellbeing & Purpose category at QS Reimagine Education in 2021.
