Key Information

The Fast-track Integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programmes are study options available from the 2025/26 academic year for high-achieving undergraduate students to complete their Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at an accelerated pace and with reduced tuition fees.

Students can complete up to 30% of the Master’s degree curriculum (around 9 credits) during their undergraduate studies. These credits will count toward both degrees, providing an opportunity for students to finish their studies in a shorter timeframe.

Students will pay the undergraduate tuition fees for both undergraduate and taught postgraduate subjects taken during their undergraduate studies, and they will pay the taught postgraduate self-financed credit fees less the taught postgraduate credits taken during their undergraduate studies.

There are two entry routes: Year 1 Entry and Year 3 Entry. Admission is subject to the fulfilment of the entrance requirements. Below are the general entrance requirements for Fast-track Programmes. Some Fast-track Programmes may have specific programme requirements. For details, please click here.

Entrance Requirements

Year 1 Entry

  1. JUPAS (Local): At least Level 5** in 2 subjects and with HKDSE Best 5 score of 26 or above (Conversion scale: 5**=8.5; 5*=7; 5=5.5; 4=4);
  2. Non-JUPAS (Local) and Non-JEE (Mainland and Non-Local-Non-Mainland): IB score of 39 or above (or equivalent); OR
  3. JEE (Mainland): Total score within the Top 3% of the province of the examination year.

Holders of other qualifications should approach their programme offering Department for the specific entrance requirements.

Year 3 Entry

  2. Recommended by the Programme Leader.

Students can take Level 5 Master’s degree subjects, up to 30% of the Master’s degree curriculum, as specified in the undergraduate curriculum under Discipline-Specific Requirements or as free electives.

For the list of Level 5 Master’s degree subjects, please visit the webpage of the respective Fast-track Programme. Links to the respective webpages can be found here.

Students are required to maintain a CGPA of 3.30 or above by the end of Semester 2 each year unless a Summer Term study is mandatory for all students of the programme.

If a student is unable to maintain the required CGPA or withdraws from his/her Fast-track Programme, he/she may not be permitted to transfer the credits earned from the Level 5 Master’s degree subjects taken during their undergraduate studies to any other programmes, including the Master’s degree programme within their original Fast-track Programme at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This is due to current regulations governing credit transfer, which state that transferred credits may not normally be counted towards more than one degree, unless they are “extra” credits taken in addition to the previous award. In such cases, students should consult the programme offering Department of the Master’s degree programme for advice.

Students who have completed the requirements for the Fast-track Programmes will receive two award parchments: one for the Bachelor’s degree and one for the Master’s degree.

Students who wish to withdraw from a Fast-track Programme must obtain approval from the Department offering the Master’s degree programme before the end of the add/drop period of the last semester of their undergraduate studies.

Students who withdraw or drop out from a Fast-track Programme still have the opportunity to apply separately for the same Master’s degree programme. However, they may be unable to transfer the credits from the Level 5 Master’s degree subjects taken during their undergraduate studies to the Master’s degree programme. For details, please refer to Part 5 above.

Except for those Level 5 Master's degree subjects taken during their undergraduate studies, the tuition fee rate for the Master's degree programme will be charged according to the intake year of the Master's degree programme.
