| Based on over 40 years of academic and professional practice experience, Prof. Couchman looks at the traditional employment patterns of graduates entering the property industry.
The industry has changed over time and real estate education has changed to meet new challenges and now there are so many more opportunities not just in traditional surveying employment but in a much wider range of activity – and not just being part of a team but leading that team.
The skills of a surveyor are varied and require analysis, problem solving and innovation which are the prime requirements for managing directors and entrepreneurs. Perhaps it is time for Surveyors to join or take over from Accountants, Bankers and Lawyers at the top of the commercial tree. |
