As a newcomer to the CEE family, it is my honour to be nominated for the CEE Entry Scholarship.

My interest in Civil Engineering stemmed from my time in secondary school. Physics and Maths have always been my favourite subjects, as problem solving gives me satisfaction. Mechanics in Physics is an area I find especially fascinating, so I would like to pursue a university subject that gives me opportunities to learn more in this area, while applying my knowledge in Math and Physics. Civil Engineering therefore became my choice.

I hoped to join CEE because of its top ranking in Hong Kong and the abundant resources it provides to support students. In 2023, I took part in the summer institute held by PolyU, where I discovered that CEE has top engineering facilities and resources such as 3D printing technology. Moreover, I like PolyU’s culture and extra-curricular activities, including various sports events and societies, that would allow me to enjoy university life. These encouraged me to put the BEng (Hons) Scheme in Civil Engineering and Sustainable Development as my first JUPAS choice.

To adapt to university life, I have made changes to my study focus. With my strength in Math, I am able to maintain a high grade but I must worked relatively harder on language subjects so that I can enhance my language proficiency to meet academic needs. Time management is a challenge for me in the transition from secondary school to university, but I have tried my best to balance between subjects by knowing my own strengths and weaknesses.
