Dr. Meng XIAO is currently a Research and Development Manager in Industrial Technology Research Institute, China Construction Steel Structure Engineering Corporation Ltd., China Construction Science and Industry Corporation Ltd. He joined the CNERC in September 2016 as a full-time PhD student in PolyU and worked as a Research Associate till mid of 2021. Meng received his BEng degree in Civil Engineering from Chongqing University and his MSc degree (distinction) from PolyU. He continued to study high strength steels after finishing his master dissertation, which was focused on material properties of S690 high strength steels subjected to both static and cyclic loading. His current research interest is in structural behavior of fabricated steel sections using high strength steel materials, including thermal-mechanical simulation, residual stress measurement and column buckling behavior. Recently, he is developing a numerical method to simulate residual stresses and buckling behaviors of S690 high strength steel columns with fabricated hollow sections.
