| PolyU has been actively promoting a greener environment and contributing to the sustainable development of our society through various channels. Alumni support a greener Hong Kong On 7 November, more than 1,000 PolyU alumni and their friends and family members planted more than 5,000 shrubs and saplings at North District Park to help promote a greener Hong Kong. Details>> Green building awards for two building projects PolyU has won two Merit Awards in the Green Building Award 2010 for the following projects: Details>> Participation in Eco Expo Asia The Ecodesign and Green Manufacturing Team of PolyU’s Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) participated in the Eco Expo Asia held from 3 to 6 November 2010, under the sponsorship of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI). Latest research work and eco-products developed by the team were shown in the "Low-Carbon Enterprises Display Gallery” of the Expo. The team also introduced its new project entitled "Development of an ecodesign tool box and the conformity assessment methodologies for the CE marking requirement (2005/32/EC) of the Energy Using Products (EuPs) export to the EU market" in the Gallery. The project, just started on 1 November 2010, is funded by the SME Development Fund of the Trade and Industry Department of the HKSAR Government. With the tool box and methodologies developed by this project, SMEs can comply with European Union legislative requirements on products shipped to Europe.
