Community Weather Information Network wins prestigious award

Computing students triumph at IT competition

 

 

 

Jointly set up by the Hong Kong Observatory and PolyU to provide real-time weather information to the public via the internet, the Community Weather Information Network (Co-WIN) recently won the “2010 Vaisala Award for Weather Observing and Instrumentation” given by the Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS). The award was presented to Mr Shun Chi-ming, Director of the Hong Kong Observatory (front row, first from right), and Prof. Helen Chan, Chair Professor and Head of PolyU’s Department of Applied Physics (front row, second from right), at the RMetS Conference on 29 June in Exeter, UK.
