Ms Esther Yiu Miu-fan, clinic in-charge cum senior nurse of the University’s Integrative Health Clinic, was honoured as one of the five awardees of “Hong Kong Outstanding Nurse Award” on 7 January. Co-inaugurated by Haven of Hope Christian Service and Association of Hong Kong Nursing Staff, this award aims to commend nurses’ care for patients with selfless spirit of “Respect life by changing life” and encourage the young generation to plunge into the nursing profession. 

With her passion in healthcare sector started in the 80s, Ms Yiu amassed extensive experience of working in clinical departments including gynecology, general medicine, emergency etc. While working in the Hospital Authority, she dedicated to helping out during the SARS outbreak. She was inspired by the human rights of “Equality”; and thus took half-year leave to join the humanitarian aid in Kenya, Africa. Since 2007, with her strong belief in humanity and respect for life, she fully dedicated herself to the work of international humanitarian aid organization. Her devotion has provided a strong impetus to clinical staff in treating every patient with sincerity, attentive care and respect.
