Dr W.H. Ip, Associate Professor of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Sino Parking Services Limited have jointly developed and launched a new application on parking navigation for Android smartphones. Through this application, drivers can read their own current location, search the car-parks nearby, and then choose a preferred car-park via parking navigation. Drivers can also record the parked location to save time in finding their cars. Both parties are also collaborating in a project entitled “Development and Implementation of an Advanced Automobile Parking Navigation Platform” to develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based advanced automobile parking navigation platform. Funded by the Innovation and Technology Fund, the platform consists of three core systems - smart devices, software module and middleware.
