New mobile app lessens the hassles of car-parking

Research on construction and building technology tops the world

Dr W.H. Ip, Associate Professor of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Sino Parking Services Limited have jointly developed and launched a new application on parking navigation for Android smartphones. Through this application, drivers can read their own current location, search the car-parks nearby, and then choose a preferred car-park via parking navigation. Drivers can also record the parked location to save time in finding their cars.

Both parties are also collaborating in a project entitled “Development and Implementation of an Advanced Automobile Parking Navigation Platform” to develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based advanced automobile parking navigation platform. Funded by the Innovation and Technology Fund, the platform consists of three core systems - smart devices, software module and middleware.
