At the InnoCarnival organized at Hong Kong Science Park by the Innovation and Technology Commission from 5 to 8 November, PolyU set up booths to display its many inventions, enabling the public to experience made-in-Hong-Kong technological achievements. Officiating at the opening ceremony was Financial Secretary Mr John Tsang. He visited the PolyU booths and showed interests in its innovative exhibits, including the space tool specially designed for use in the forthcoming Sino-Russian space mission. The four-day Carnival,the highlight of Innovation Festival 09, featured exhibitions, workshops, seminars and competitions. On 12 November, Miss Janet W.C. Wong, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology, also led a delegation to PolyU to know more about its inventions. Joining the visit were Mr Andrew Lai, Deputy Commissioner; Mr Nicholas Chan and Mr Geoffrey Woodhead, Assistant Commissioners; Mr Augustine Lee, Senior Manager (Infrastructure). They were introduced to the University’s various research areas, including electric vehicle, optical fibre, smart railway and nanostructured materials.
