Open Day
On 2-3 December 2017, the 80th Anniversary Open Day was held to showcase the University’s latest developments and achievements as well as its wealth of facilities to the public. The two-day event featured over 100 spectacular programmes and activities, ranging from creative showcases, themed talks, interesting workshops, tours, fun activities. The Naming Ceremony of the Pauline Tsang Po Yan Gallery, as well as the Unveiling Ceremonies of the Wall of Pride@Alumni Atrium and the Sculpture “Congregation” were also held on this special occasion.
A highlight event of the Open Day was the cycling activity “8 x 80 Cycling”, which brought together over 400 PolyU staff, students, alumni and their families and friends to bike through the University campus and Yau Tsim Mong. Led by President Tong and Mr Wong Kam-po, event ambassador and former world champion cyclist, the team took a 7.1 km urban ride starting from PolyU main campus through Austin Road, Canton Road, PolyU West Kowloon Campus, and back to PolyU campus via Waterloo Road, Nathan Road and Salisbury Road, bringing the joy of PolyU’s anniversary celebrations to the community.
