Summary
Emperor Wu of Han (140-87 BC) ruled over a nation stretching from Wiman Joseon (now North Korea) to Central Asia. Dongfang Shuo was the charismatic court jester who ably assisted this sovereign while fulfilling his own ambition using humour and jest. Together they turned the Han Dynasty into a great empire and opened the Silk Road trading routes between East and West. Hear the creators of “Emperor Wu of Han and his Jester Strategist” talk about this new Cantonese opera which puts this celebrated jester strategist in the spotlight.
