Summary
Beethoven is a towering figure of western classical music and the popularity of his masterpieces has endured for more than two centuries. In this programme, Mr Leung Kin-fung, Artistic Director and Conductor of PolyU Orchestra together with renowned pianist, Dr Cheng Wai, will perform the complete repertoire of Beethoven sonatas for violin and piano. The 10 sonatas were composed between 1797 and 1812, the early to middle period of Beethoven’s compositions.
Professor Brian King, Associate Dean of School of Hotel and Tourism Management, and Dr Julia Chen, Director of Educational Development Centre, will also shed light on the stories of Beethoven and this sonata series.
