Explore how to integrate online synchronous and asynchronous activities and build community and interaction.
The CoI framework (Garrison et al., 2000) represents a process of creating a deep and meaningful learning online experience through the development of three elements: social, cognitive and teaching presence. In this session, you will apply the framework to your blended teaching.
By the end of this session you will be able to:
1. Explain the importance of social, cognitive and teaching presence in designing and facilitating effective blended learning
2. Use the CoI framework to select appropriate tools for effective blended learning
3. Use the CoI framework to design activities that support interaction at different stages of a blended online lecture or tutorial.
