In this session, we will present the design principles, development and use of our PolyU-developed “Clicker” system. This is a unique self-developed clicker which is different from various other student response systems available. In particular, the system features a two-way response function which enables students to provide online responses to their teacher as well as allowing the teacher to provide feedback based on the analyzed results. The system also allows instructors to provide feedback on the performance of their students in class.

Over 1000 students from different institutions worldwide, including PolyU and universities in China, Australia, and Canada, have used the system in their classes.

In this workshop, we will elaborate on:

1. Design principles for the PolyU “clicker”.
2. Best Practice Tips for using the “clicker” for
a. Assessment
b. Peer evaluation
c. Voting and polling and
d. Care for and feedback to students
