Summer issue of PolyU’s magazine, Excel x Impact, is out! Leading national aerospace scientists visited Hong Kong in June. As the only tertiary institution in Hong Kong with international space exploration experience, PolyU was honoured to be the co-organiser for a series of celebratory events on Space Technology. Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award 2022

In celebration of the 85th Anniversary of PolyU in 2022, the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award 2022 will incorporate new features to recognise our distinguished alumni’s diverse accomplishments and contributions in various areas, including professional achievement, entrepreneurial achievement, scholarly achievement, and community service achievement. Special recognition for outstanding young alumni is also added.  The Award will be organised at Department, Faculty/School and University levels. PolyU will celebrate its 85th anniversary in 2022. As you may know, we have been welcoming ideas and contributions from members of the PolyU community to help commemorate this important milestone. Participants have the chance to earn a cash award of HK$10,000 or other prizes.We are delighted to have received many submissions for the lyrics contest. However, we would like to invite more people to submit entries for the other categories, namely videos, souvenirs and memorabilia. PolyU Beijing Alumni Network - Salon on theme song lyrics development for PolyU 85th anniversary

To celebrate the 85th Anniversary of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, PolyU Beijing Alumni Network organised a “Salon on theme song lyrics development for PolyU 85th anniversary” on 6 June 2021. Mr Yang Dongri, President of Beijing Alumni Network hosted the event. Around 20 alumni and guests including Ms Hai Mo, a renowned screenwriter, poet and Deputy Director of China Tianhan Research Association (Project Department of Drama Committee), Ms Yang Wenming (米乐), former Director of CCTV (Micro Film Programme), Deputy Director of New Audio-visual Language and Industry Research Project, Communication University of China, and members of Beijing Alumni Network participated in the event.

PolyU Shanghai Alumni Network – 2nd Annual General Meeting cum Reunion

On 29 May 2021, the 2nd Annual General Meeting of PolyU Shanghai Alumni Network was successfully organised at Shanghai Huating Hotel and the 2nd Executive Committee was elected at the Meeting. The event received an overwhelming response with around 150 guests and alumni participated. President Professor Jin-Guang Teng, Executive Vice President Dr Miranda Lou and the Mainland Alumni Affairs team of Chinese Mainland Affairs Office joined the event in Hong Kong. President Teng addressed a remarks and Dr Lou shared information about the preparation of PolyU’s 85th Anniversary. The Network has composed a theme song for PolyU’s 85th Anniversary and sang at the event. Mr Cheung Hon Wan, the first President of PolyU Shanghai Alumni Network concluded the fruitful results of the Network in 2020 and set out the Network’s resolution for the coming year. At the Annual General Meeting, revised constitution of the Network was passed and adopted by the participated alumni, and the 2nd executive committee members were elected. The evening was remarkably fruitful. We are honoured to have invited Mr Michael Ross, awardee of Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award, Vice Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group and Co-chairman of CP Commercial Real Estate to give us a sharing on 85th Anniversary of our alma mater. Furthermore, our alumni Mr Dickson Szeto, graduated with a Master degree in International Real Estate, Ms Ying Wang, graduated with a Master degree in Social Service Administration, and Mr Jacky Wong, graduate of School of Design, gave us talks on their professions. Workshop on tips on conducting online meeting and webinar for alumni leaders

On 25 May 2021, PolyU Alumni Affairs and Development Office and Public Relations and Alumni Activities of the Federation of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Alumni Associations (FHKPUAA) jointly organized an online workshop on “Tips on Conducting Online Meeting and Webinar". Around 40 alumni leaders attended the event.  Representatives from the Information Technology Services Office of PolyU, The HK PolyU MBA Alumni Association and the Young Alumni Sub-committee of FHKPUAA introduced various online platforms and shared practical tips on how to set up an online meeting and organize a webinar.   The participants were pleased to learn the useful tips from the facilitators. Ir Yau Kwok Fai, Convenor of the Public Relations and Alumni Activities Sub-Committee of FHKPUAA, encouraged the alumni associations to make use of the online platforms to engage their members in the new normal.

PolyU Graduating Class Ambassadors

This year, around 200 final year students from all faculties and schools of PolyU as well as the Hong Kong Community College have been appointed as PolyU Graduating Class Ambassadors (GCAs).  They are committed to supporting their alma mater to maintain close ties with its graduates.  They would take the lead to keep regular communication with their fellows and help promote University’s latest development and alumni activities to classmates. Nearly 100 GCAs attended the briefing sessions on 17 and 18 May 2021 at Alumni Atrium. They were excited to learn about their important roles and meet with other enthusiastic graduating students at the events. The Ambassadors look forward to supporting and participating in the alumni activities and University events.
