Congratulations to Dr Lu YU for Winning Fulbright RGC Hong Kong Senior Research Scholar Award


Dr. Lu YU, Associate Professor of Department of Applied Social Sciences, has been awarded Fulbright–RGC Hong Kong Senior Research Scholar Award by the U.S. government. The award will sponsor her research project in the U.S. for 10 months (https://www.ugc.edu.hk/eng/rgc/funded_research/funding_results/fhksp2021.html).

During her Fulbright fellowship at the University of Chicago in the academic year 2020/21, Dr. YU will conduct a research project entitled “Preventing Youth Violence in Hong Kong: Gaining Experiences from Evidence-Based Best Practices in the United States”. Dr. Yu said that violence among youth is a major public health concern worldwide, and its importance for Hong Kong is growing. The research would contribute to preventing youth violence in Hong Kong and other Chinese contexts.

Dr. YU expressed her thanks to the Department of Applied Social Sciences for the support in her application.

The Fulbright–RGC Hong Kong Senior Research Scholar Award Programme is a flagship international education exchange programme supported by the U.S. Department of State and partner countries around the world. Funded by the Research Grants Council, two awards will be on offer annually for Hong Kong scholars as Fulbright visiting scholars affiliated with American universities and research institutes. The Programme aims to support senior Hong Kong scholars to undertake research activities at American universities and research institutes.
