Aims and Characteristics

Programme Aims

The aims of the proposed programme are as follows.

  1. To produce graduates with good fundamental computing and finance concepts, sound intellectual and practical skills, and the ability to think critically.
  2. To produce graduates who can effectively and creatively apply computing and related technologies to different information processing areas in finance sectors through the interplay of technical, business and other aspects.
  3. To produce graduates who can keep abreast of innovative technologies as well as the ethical and legal issues, and be able to engage in life-long learning in the finance and computing disciplines.
  4. To produce graduates with professional knowledge and all-round capabilities who can contribute to society and the development of Hong Kong and China.

Characteristics

This programme targets sub-degree graduates from two major disciplines. It can admit both ICT-related and finance-related sub-degree graduates.

The programme facilitates inter-disciplinary learning of FinTech via a variety of mechanisms, e.g. organising FinTech seminars with experts in the fields of finance and IT, and collaborating with different experts to provide joint supervision of capstone projects.
