The Department is pleased to inform that Dr Chin Nyun Fook has been appointed as Adjunct Professor of the Department starting from July 2014 for a period of 3 years.
Dr Chin graduated from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, UK with a 1st Class Honours BSc degree in 1974, and then worked for GEC (UK and HK) until 2001. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Bath, UK in power system protection in 1995. In 2001, Dr. Chin started his company to provide consultancy on power protection projects. He has also devoted much effort in developing and delivering training courses in power system protection for practicing engineers in the United Kingdom and Asia-Pacific countries.
Dr Chin is very active in professional societies and serves as committee member in several UK IET Boards, office-bearer in IEEE Hong Kong Section and IEEE PES Chapter, etc. Amid of his busy schedule, Dr Chin has also taken up volunteer work in academic field, taking up appointments as external examiner, member in various advisory committees in PolyU, and other local tertiary institutes.
The Department is excited to have Dr Chin to participate in our teaching and research, particularly in the area of Power System Protection.
