Dr Lam is currently Executive Vice President for the Asia Region at Merit Medical Co. Ltd., where he oversees a business focusing on cardiovascular, interventional, and oncology medicine that spans Greater China, South Korea, ASEAN, and India. Under his leadership, innovative medical technology products and training programmes have been provided to healthcare professionals, helping improve the lives of thousands of patients. Dr Lam actively participates in industry groups such as the Greater Bay Area MedTech Association, which he co-founded, and the Biotechnology and Healthcare Council of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, of which he is a member. In these roles, he fosters industry collaborations and advances medical innovations, supporting the development of the MedTech sector in the region.
Beyond his business role, Dr Lam continuously seeks opportunities to serve Hong Kong society. He actively supports entrepreneurship, for example by serving as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence and Industrial Advisor on the Intellectual Property Advisory Committee, and as a member of the Advisory Panel of the Entrepreneurship Investment Fund at PolyU’s Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship Office. He is also a member of the Entrepreneurship Committee Advisory Group for HK Cyberport, volunteers his time as a start-up mentor for both Cyberport and Science Park, and advises an award-winning AI pet health startup. He is an Officer of the Harvard Business School Association of Hong Kong and an Honorary Advisor to the Jao Studies Foundation.
Academically, Dr Lam is a part-time Professor of Practice in the Department of Management and Marketing, and serves on the Advisory Board of the Centre for Leadership and Innovation. He is also a member of the Editorial Review Board of the Academy of Management Perspectives. His research has been published in leading journals, including the Academy of Management Journal and Harvard Business Review, and he has been interviewed by the Globe and Mail, a leading Canadian newspaper. In 2023, he received the Faculty Prize for Outstanding Achievement from the PolyU Faculty of Business.
