According to The UTD Top 100 Worldwide Business School Rankings Based on Research Contributions (All Journals) published on 23 March 2021, the Faculty’s research ranked 59th among business schools in the world from 2016 to 2020, up from its 61st place in the preceding five-year period. The ranking was compiled by The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) based on research articles/notes published in 24 leading journals in major business disciplines.

During the review period, faculty members published 95 papers in these journals, ranking the Faculty sixth in Asia and fourth in Hong Kong.

In the area of Production and Operations Management, counting the four premium journals (Journal of Operations Management, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Operations Research, and Production and Operations Management), the Faculty was the first outside the US and 12th in the world.

According to ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2021, PolyU Management ranks fifth in the world and Business Administration ranks 49th.

The global ranking covers 54 subjects across Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences and universities with a certain number of publications during the 2015–2019 period. For Management, the threshold is 50 publications and there are 500 selected universities. For Business Administration, the threshold is 50 publications and there are 400 selected universities. These institutions are listed based on their performance in research output, research influence, international collaboration, research quality, and international academic awards.

The latest Brigham Young University (BYU) Accounting Research Rankings 2020 ranked PolyU sixth in the world and first in Hong Kong for Archival Financial in the past six years, up from its 21st rank worldwide in the previous 12 years. The ranking was based on peer reviewed articles in 12 accounting journals and their citations.

For Archival Accounting Research (All Topics), PolyU ranked third in Asia and 15th in the world in 2020.

Regarding the ranking of authors of Financial Accounting research, Professor Albert Tsang in the School of Accounting and Finance was among the top 100 researchers around the world for the last six years.

Professor Jiang Li, in the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies, has been named Chang Jiang Scholar, the highest academic honour bestowed on an individual in higher education by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. He was appointed Chang Jiang Chair Professor (part-time) at Xi’an Jiaotong University for the 2021–2024 period.

Professor Jiang graduated from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan with a PhD in Operations and Management Science. His research interests include data-driven operations, information sharing, the credence goods market, consumer search, behavioural operations, and sharing economy platforms.

Professor Jiang Yuwei, in the Department of Management and Marketing, has been selected for the 2020 class of MSI Scholars.

The Marketing Science Institute (MSI), a division of the US-based Advertising Research Foundation, connects industry leaders and leading academics to create a platform for scientific research and collaboration, as well as a community to develop new knowledge to solve real-world marketing problems and advance the scientific practice of marketing. The MSI Scholars Program brings together a select group of mid-career academics, with the purpose of recognizing individuals’ excellence in scholarship, developing a cohort across all marketing disciplines, and strengthening ties between scholars and MSI. The 2020 class comprises 35 prominent marketing scholars from around the world.

Professor Jiang joined PolyU as Assistant Professor in 2009 and became Associate Professor in 2015 and full Professor of Marketing in 2018. His consulting, research, and teaching interests include social influence and consumer behaviour, the psychology of time and money, visual information processing, sensory marketing, and metacognitive experiences.
