PolyU Design has been an important and dynamic hub for design education and research in Hong Kong since 1964. Our long-standing heritage and dedication to innovative, flexible programmes has helped us achieve our position as the top-ranked design school in Asia, 15th globally in the area of art and design (QS World University Rankings by subject, 2020) and is consistently among the top 20 in the world.
Our school, which provides a high level, well-equipped teaching and learning environment, is located in the Jockey Club Innovation Tower, a landmark building designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid.

We are ranked 2nd in the world for academic institutions teaching hospitality and tourism based on research and scholarship (Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research 2009). We offer a strong academic foundation supported by hands-on, practical learning with quality programmes that have been recognised internationally.
We are one of the first institutions to receive the United Nations World Tourism Organisation’s (UNWTO) TedQual Certification. We’re recognised by the International Society for Travel and Tourism Educators with an ISTTE Institutional Achievement Award for innovation, curriculum design, industry partnerships and enhancing tourism education in Asia.
The faculty has more than 2,100 students enrolled with 65 international academics from 20 countries and regions. We have our own purpose-built teaching and research 5 star hotel, Hotel ICON, where students can practice their skills first-hand, developing a strong sense of international standards, best practices and theory.
