International Competition and Conference Participation Scheme (ICCPS)

The subsidy scheme encourages and supports PolyU full-time students to participate in international competitions and conferences with the aim of enhancing students’ global outlook and multicultural competency.

The Scheme can subsidize up to 2/3 of expenses needed, e.g. flight, accommodation, registration fee, visa, required vaccination, etc.

Calls for applications are made on a bi-annual basis.

Short-term Non-local Study Fund

To encourage PolyU undergraduate students to participate in various Short-term Non-local Study Activities available, the Global Engagement Office (GEO) offers Short-term Non-local Study Fund 2024/25 of HK$ 4,500 per student to support credit-bearing or formally assessed learning activities that enhance students’ global outlook and multicultural competency. The activities should be related to the discipline(s) of the degree being pursued.

 

Recommended Type of Activities

  • Fee-paying short-term programmes listed on Global Classroom or endorsed by GEO/academic units.
  • Programme-related study tours or field trips arranged by academic units.
  • International competition or conference that is reputable/influential in the field and is beneficial to students in terms of personal, academic and professional development. Endorsement from the academic unit is recommended.
  • Other offshore learning experiences that are credit-bearing or formally assessed.
  • Priority would be given to activities in Mainland cities of the Greater Bay Area.
  • The Fund does not support internships, service-learning, Global Student Exchange Programmes, subsidy recipients for Summer@OxBridge.

Eligibility

  • Full-time undergraduate students in UGC-funded programmes.
  • Final-year students are not eligible to submit applications for activities that take place during Summer Break.
  • Priority will be given to non-local learning experiences of 7 calendar days minimum.
  

Guidelines and Rules

  • The Fund is limited and may be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Priority will be given to candidates with financial needs where they have the equal academic merits.
  • For individual applications, priority will be given to first-time applicants.
  • Only programme fee, registration fee, travel expenses and accommodation costs may be funded.
  • Should the total cost of activity fall below the designated funding amount listed, GEO reserves the right to make a downward adjustment of the pre-approved financial support as necessary.
  • The final decision is subject to the review of the application and the necessary documents provided by the said deadline.

Application Instruction

Individual Application

Students submit a complete application to GEO with proof of confirmed participation in the offshore learning activities.

Online application form (for activities that take place in Semester 1 and Winter Break)

 

Group Application

For a group of students participating in the same programme/activity, Academic Units (Faculty/School/Department) submit a complete application to GEO.

The online group application form (for activities that take place in Semester 1 and Winter Break) will be sent individually to academic units.

Individual Application

Students submit full activity reports and official transcripts/certificates of completion in electronic copy to GEO. A report submission link will be provided to successful applicants.

 

Group Application

Academic units submit activity reports to GEO for each group of students. The report template will be provided to successful applicants.

HKSAR Government Subsidy is available to eligible students undertaking activities/programmes funded by the Short-term Non-local Study Fund 2024/25 (except for virtual mode of learning). Please refer to briefing note for details.
