Mainland Summer WIE 2025
By participating in Mainland WIE Programmes, students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse work cultures, while experiencing different traditions and ways of life in the placement city. They can also gain deeper understanding of the latest business and industry trends, as well as developments in Mainland China.

Mainland WIE Programmes organised by GEO provide participants with a wonderful opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience in a major city in Mainland China. This experience can enhance participants’ employability, making them more competitive in the job market after graduation.
Programme fee^: HK$2,000

^The programme fee covers:
- Hotel accommodation arranged by GEO;
- Transportations between Hong Kong and the placement city;
- Internship-related events (such as networking sessions or company visits); and
- Group Personal Accident Insurance.
Upon successful completion of the WIE programme, together with the timely as well as satisfactory completion and submission of all the required documents, participants will be eligible to receive a learning incentive of HK$2,300.
To avoid any scheduling conflicts, please check your availability in advance and apply for the Mainland WIE Programme(s) that best align(s) with your schedule.
- Year 2 or above, UGC-funded, full-time undergraduates
- Aged 18 or above with valid travel document(s)
- Able to communicate in Putonghua in a work setting
- Highly independent, adaptable, proactive and culturally sensitive
- The programme fee of HK$2,000 is non-refundable once the offer is accepted. Applicants may also need to bear the cost of flight ticket(s) or other cancellation fee(s) incurred should they choose to withdraw from the Mainland WIE Programme(s).
Interview: A video interview will be arranged to assess applicants’ personal attributes and skill sets. Applicants should also indicate their preferences on the location(s) and job nature(s) in relation to discipline(s) during this interview.
Nomination: Based on the interview performance, GEO may contact shortlisted applicants and ask about their preference regarding whether to be nominated to employer(s) for internship position(s) according to the indicated preferences and availability of vacancies. Applicants can choose to accept or reject the nomination by replying to the related email.
Offer: Upon the applicants’ acceptance of the nomination, GEO will follow up with the employer to confirm the offer(s). Once the official confirmations are made by the respective employers, offer notifications will be sent to the applicants, who are required to decide whether to accept the offer(s) by paying the programme fee of HK$2,000, submitting the Student Charter, and completing other essential information online.

For students opting for internship programmes organised by external organisations, please refer to the information below for reference and consideration. Interested students should submit direct applications to external organisations. Only students who have sought endorsement from their Department before enrolment are eligible to apply for OWS.
