PolyU HKJMA Invitational Golf Tournament raises funds for student development

The "PolyU HKJMA Invitational Golf Tournament" was held earlier at the Palm Island Resort, Huizhou. PolyU was pleased to have the Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’ Association (HKJMA) as the Title Sponsor of this year’s tournament. Over 180 prominent business and community leaders, as well as friends and alumni of PolyU joined the match, of which many were staunch supporters. The tournament raised over HK$1.4 million for supporting student's all-round development.

Officiating at the tournament’s Opening Ceremony were Mr Chan Tze-ching, PolyU Council Chairman, Professor Timothy W. Tong, PolyU President, Dr Adam Lau, Chairman of the Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’ Association, Mr Bob Chong, Honorary Chairman cum Acting Chairman of the tournament’s Organizing Committee, Mr David Ting, Honorary Chairman cum Convenor of the Committee, and five other Honorary Chairmen, namely Dr Dennis Ng, Mr Y. F. Lee, Mr Patrick Luk, Dr K. C. Yip and Mr Peter Lau, the Hon. Ambrose Lee Siu-kwong, HKSAR Representative of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Mr Jimmy Luk, General Manager of Palm Island. Addressing the Ceremony, Prof. Tong thanked the HKJMA and other sponsors, as well as the tournament’s Organizing Committee for making the event a great success.

There were three team awards, namely the “Honorary Chairman Cup”, “Industrial & Commerce Cup” and “Company Cup”, and individual awards including “Best Gross Score”, “Best Net Score”, “Alumni Cup” as well as various hole awards. All awards were presented by PolyU Council Chairman Mr Chan, President Prof. Tong and the tournament’s sponsors at a ceremony held on the match day.

The PolyU golf tournament was first organized in 2003 and now in its 13th year. Well received by PolyU’s business partners and friends, it has become a signature annual fund-raising event of the University.
