On 11 April 2019, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) held an appreciation reception at the Alumni Atrium to thank donors who have set up scholarships and/ or bursaries for students in the academic year 2018/19.
In 2018/19, PolyU received over HK$43 million from around 360 donors, in the forms of scholarships, bursaries, financial assistance, and subsidies for student activities, benefiting over 2,300 students. Prof. Philip Chan, PolyU Interim President, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all donors in his welcoming address.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to donors who have supported the University’s scholarship/bursary scheme for over 15 years by Prof. Chan and Dr Katherine Ngan Ng Yu-ying, Chairman of the PolyU Foundation. Dr Ngan also appealed all donors to continuously partner with PolyU to nurture more talents with social responsibility and make ever-greater contribution to our society.
During the reception, six talented scholarship awardees performed Kazakhstan dance and singing respectively to express their heartiest gratitude to the donors. Two donors, Hong Kong Hotels Association and Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Welfare Association, which have been supporting the University’s scholarship/ bursary scheme for over two decades, shared with the audience their beliefs and aspiration to support education and PolyU.
