About us

The rapid development of information and communication technologies, artificial intelligence and digital technologies have largely empowered today’s industries towards the digital servitization era. Accordingly, a large amount of low cost, high performance smart, connected products are leveraged, together with their generated digitalized services, as a single solution bundle to meet individual customer needs.

The Digitalized Service Laboratory (DSL) aims to serve as an open platform to remotely present various intelligent industrial digitalized services developed in ISE department, through the GUI and information system deployed in the cloud-edge platform. The types of services include, but not limited to the following ones:

  • Design-as-a-Service (Smart product-service system), e.g. cloud-based design, crowdsourcing/crowdsensing for product development, etc.
  • Manufacturing-as-a-Service (Smart manufacturing system), e.g. predictive maintenance, machining condition monitoring, production scheduling, inspection service, etc.
  • Logistics/Warehouse Management-as-a-Service (Smart logistics), e.g. real-time tracking of goods, traffic flow analytics, etc.
  • Employee’s well-being-as-a-Service (Smart office/work), e.g. office working status monitoring, heavy workload fatigue analysis, working activity recognition, etc.

Facilities:

The DSL is equipped with high performance cloud-edge computing facilities (e.g. INDICS EDGE 6000 Gateway, INDICS EDGE 8010 AIO, INTEL i9-10920X workstation, etc.), INDICS Industrial IoT platform license and cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (e.g. CAD/CAM, simulation, robot control APPs).

It can largely support students to learn about the cutting-edge Industry 4.0 digitalized solution management in the Industrial IoT environment. Moreover, it can also provide strong support to our industrial partners in developing their on-demand industrial services.
