Hui received her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the National University of Singapore.  She also holds an M.Phil. in Communication and Transportation Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and a B.Eng. in Port Operation and Management from Dalian Maritime University.  Prior to joining PolyU, she was a Research Scientist at Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore.

Hui’s research interests include shipping management, big data analysis in shipping, shipping economics and revenue management.  She has published papers in reputable journals including Transportation Research Part C (TRC), Transportation Research Part E (TRE), Journal of Transport Geography, etc.  As a core member, she has undertaken five maritime projects funded by the Ministry of Education (Singapore), Singapore Maritime Institute, and NOL (Neptune Orient Lines) Fellowship.
